Friends, Part 2

Okay, so it’s been a while since I wrote anything here. For what it’s worth, it’s been an interesting time!

There I was a short while ago, writing about the importance of having friends and maintaining friendships.  So, trying to follow my own advice, I started looking people up on Facebook. I went back before I was married, to friendships I had then. And lo and behold, there was one of my dearest friends! We’d lost track of each other right after I got married.  I got married really fast and then we moved and my friend moved and in the days before email and cell phones, that can be fatal.

I sent the friend request and waited.  Within an hour, it was accepted and a message was in my inbox! I could hardly believe it! I’d found my friend. He was on his way out of the country for 2 weeks so I had to practice patience and wait until we could catch up. It was like time had never passed. Within a short while he and his spouse were up here so we could reunite in person. We’ve got plans to go on vacation together in the future!

Then a couple weeks ago, this happened to me – an old friend sent me a friend request in Facebook. I didn’t recognize her married name but accepted anyway. Then the message was in the inbox! We had been such good friends when we were both young and single. It was wonderful just to see what she’s been up to and see pictures of her lovely family.

It was wonderful to be reminded of friendships that I had valued so much in the past. It helps me remember to value the friendships that I have now.

Tip Of The Day: Do whatever it takes to maintain your friendships – you don’t know how much you’ll value them as time goes by.
